1. Users running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, please click on the AUBautoupdate button below. When prompted, choose open (you must use Internet Explorer ver 5.0 or above) to execute this program.
   
   
   
   
   The program will take around 5 - 10 minutes to execute depending on your computer's hardware status.

2. An authenticated confirmation WEB page will appear showing the results of the program run on your computer (Success or Failure). The page will contain instructions on what to do next, and will auto log the status of the program run in CNS helpdesk databases. CNS helpdesk will be taking actions accordingly.

   If you do not receive the confirmation WEB page within 30 minutes, please run this program to auto log your problem CNS helpdesk databases.

3. A Message Box might appear asking you to Restart your computer. Please save your work, close all open applications and press "OK" to restart.

4. After successful installation, your computer will automatically check for new updates on a daily basis, and if any are found, it will automatically download and install them, no user intervention is required. After installation completion your computer may prompt you to initiate a restart; save your work, close all applications and restart.

If you do not receive a restart request message within the next 3 days, please contact CNS helpdesk via e-support, or e-mail, or by calling ext. 2260.

In order to automate security alerts and ease out security updates for Windows (XP and 2000) based computers at AUBnet, the Computing and Networking Services has written special programs and tailored special policies that would leverage the built-in "Windows Automatic Update Service" and "McAfee Antivirus Software" and adapt them to AUBnet security policies. Further automation is also underway.
