McAfee Configuration and Scheduling
(Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP)

Follow the steps below to enable McAfee Antivirus program to work better with AUBnet security policies, and to mitigate virus risks.

  1. Identify your McAfee program properties, how?

  2. If the scan engine revision is lower than 4.2.60, update NOW.

  3. Configure McAfee and schedule its auto updates:

    1. Double click on the McAfee virus scan console on the system tray.

    1. Double click on the AUTOUPDATE task.

    1. Click on "Configure" button.

    2. Under updated sites, edit the "Network Associates" entry.

    3. Rename the site as "AUB FTP Site", choose FTP under "retrieve files from", edit " ftp.aub.edu.lb/pub/software/antivirus/datfiles/4.x" for FTP site, tick "use anonymous" and "use passive FTP", and finally click ok and then ok again.

Change McAfee site options

  1. Choose "Schedule" Tab.

  2. Tick "Enable" box, click "Daily" and then choose all days in which your computer is powered on and used. Set the time (recommended is 10:00AM). Click OK when done.

  3. Click on "Program" tab then on "Run Now" and look for "successful" message.
