AUBnet Computing Units?

bullet What are AUBnet Computing Units?
AUBnet Computing Units (CU) are prepaid electronic debit units used by AUBnet users to pay for various AUBnet computing services such as:
  • Network printing
  • Internet web access
  • DORMnet Network Connection Activation
     IMPORTANT NOTICE: AUBnet Computing Units may not be used for services other than computing.

     Monthly assigned web quotas:
    - Students are granted a monthly 750 MB web quota. Click here to know more about

    - Interns and residents are granted a monthly 500 MB web quota. Click here to know

    - Faculty are granted a monthly 1 GB web quota. Click here to know more about web

     Optional AUBnet Computing Units: Used to credit either your printing quota, web quota, DORMnet network activation or to pay for other computing services. They are sold at the Cashier's Office for LBP 15,000 per 66 days of network connectivity at your dorm room.

     Sample Services Rates: (Effective August 1, 2004)
  • Each slip costing LBP 15,000 will credit your account with 100 CU or enable 66 days of network connectivity in your dorm room.
  • Each printed page will debit your account by 0.4 CU
  • Each 1MB of Internet browsing/download will cost you LL 20
     IMPORTANT NOTICE: CNS reserves the right to change the services rates without prior notice.

    bullet Accounting Information Available to AUBnet Users:

     Account Status: To determine the number of CU's allocated to your account and login id and the number of CU's that have been used, go to Internet Usage.

     DORMnet Status: To view the available active network connection days, go to DORMnet Network Connection Management.

     Audit Trail: Under special circumstances and to solve special problems regarding specific usage, CNS will provide a detailed listing of all transactions for a specific account for a billing period.

     Account and Interactive System User Identification Security: All AUBnet computing services are protected against unauthorized use through password security methods.
      
    bullet Is there quota free web access?
    CNS is offering quota-free internet access for Students, Faculty, and Staff (Management level) from Monday - Friday (8:01 PM to 7:59 AM winter hours, and 5:01 PM - 6:59 AM during summer hours) and all day during weekends and holidays.

    bullet Where are the public printers?
    Public printers are found in public labs: namely, the Van Dyck Computer lab, the lobby and the Microfilm sections of the University Library (Jafet).
