Basic Troubleshooting of your Network Card for Dorms Connection
If you are facing connection problems (you cannot browse AUB home page http://www.aub.edu.lb for example) to access some or all services kindly perform the following basic troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure that your Network Interface Card is enabled (the icon is blue in color and not grey in color). If disabled, you can enable it by right-mouse click on the icon and choosing “Enable”.
- Make sure that you are configuring the IP address allocated for your dorm room and not any other IP address.
- Make sure that you are connecting from your room and not from any other room as the IP address assigned to your room only works from that room.
- Make sure that the patch cord you are using is not faulty and you are connecting to the right Network Interface Card port at your computer (it is an 8-pin) port.
- Make sure that you are configuring your browser, e-mail client and applications as described at the following URL http://cns.aub.edu.lb/cns/students/internet.html
- Make sure that your computer is not infected with viruses or malicious codes that forces AUBnet security systems to block your computer access. If such viruses or codes are installed on your computer, clean them and then try to access.
- If you cannot authenticate to AUB proxy servers make sure that:
- Your AUBnet account is active ( https://cgi.aub.edu.lb/services/ssl/acct_status.html )
- You have not exceeded your monthly Internet quota ( https://cgi.aub.edu.lb/services/ssl/intusage.html ).
