Internet Explorer script debugging errors and how to stop them
A common problem that can occur when browsing the internet using Internet Explorer is the sudden appearance of script debug error messages on screen when you view certain web pages. The messages usually appear in a grey box and say something like "Script error at line 01. Do you wish to debug?". These messages start to appear occasionally but over time become more frequent and distracting. Whenever one of the messages appear always choose no from the options available in the dialogue box.
If the messages do start to appear more frequently and start to annoy there is a simple way to disable the script de-bugging facility. You will need to do the following:
- In Internet Explorer go to the menu bar at the very top of the screen and click on Tools, followed by Internet options.
- When the Internet options box appears on screen click on the advanced tab.
- In Advanced you will see a long list of options available which you can enable or disable. Quite near the top of this list you will see the "Disable Script Debugging" option. Simply click the box to the left of this to ensure a tick appears.
- Click on the Apply button followed by OK to close the Internet options box. Do not change any of the other options in the advanced tab. The debugging error messages have now been switched off so you should not see them again.
