The Data Network Division is the unit of Computing and Networking Services Department responsible for the design, installation, and operation of the Campus and Medical Center Data Network, that provisions that infrastructure on which computing services are built. The data network is composed of the wired network and the wireless network. The wired network connects more than 5,000 nodes (as of January 2008), while the wireless network has more than 4,000 active subscribers (as of January 2008).

The major components of the Campus and Medical Center Data Network currently include the cupper structured wiring system (around 7,000 nodes), Data Equipment Room facilities (more than 100 rooms), Data Center facilities (3 Main Data Centers), Fiber Optic outdoor and indoor mesh (around 150 segments with more than 15 Km of cables), edge Ethernet 10/100/1000Mbps switches (more than 300 switches), Gigabit Ethernet and 10Gigabit Ethernet core switches (13 stacks), Central Wireless controllers (more then 20), Indoor and Outdoor Access Points (around 600), Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention systems, Internet links, Voice over IP gateway, Dial-up pools.

In addition to operating the network infrastructure and AUB's link to the Internet, we install and support departmental and individual wired and wireless connections to the Campus Network (http://faq.aub.edu.lb/catid221.html).
