- Myself and my room mate both need to connect to the network at the same time and there is only socket in the room, what shall we do?
Answer: First, only one of you is required to pay for the room network connection (via AUBnet payment slips). You can agree between yourselves to split the payment the way you want.
If you are planning to use the network connection simultaneously, you can purchase a 4-port Ethernet 10/100Mbps repeater (hub) from the local market (cost should not exceed 30-40$) and then connect the hub to the socket using a dedicated patch cord and then connect both computers to the hub. Note that 2 IP addresses have been allocated per room so that each one of you can have his dedicated IP address.
If you are not planning to use the network socket simultaneously then there is no need to purchase a hub.

- Can I share files or play network games with users in other dorm rooms?
Answer: You cannot establish any sort of direct peer-to-peer communication with any other DORMnet computer connected in any another dorm room while you are connected to DORMnet. This security policy is intended to reduce the risks of your computer or any other DORMnet computer being infected by viruses, worms or any other malicious codes.
If you need to share files with other DORMnet users or even with any other AUBnet user, you can do so by using e-mail attachments for small size files (1MB or 2MB) or the Share service for large size files. The share service is available at http://share.aub.edu.lb
- The payment slip that I buy from the cashier's office for 15,000L.L allows 66 days of network connection, can I add more days?
Answer: Of course, you can to purchase another AUBnet Payment Slip from the cashier office and add more days of connectivity to your room. Once you purchase the slip go to: https://cgi.aub.edu.lb/services/ssl/dorms.html to activate.
- I am moving from my room to a new room and I still have extra days left in my quota, what happens in this case?
Answer: If the new room network connection is not activated by the new room occupant, then your balance quota will be transferred to the new room and the network connection will get automatically deactivated in the old room and activated in the new one.
If the new room network connection is already activated by the new room occupant, then your quota will not be transferred but will be refunded to you in cash (rate is 227.27 L.L per day). In this case an e-mail will be sent to you and you will need to print and bring that e-mail printed copy to CNS offices to approve it before going to the cashier's office for cash refund.
- I do not want to use the network connection in my room anymore and I do have extra days left, can I be refunded?
Answer: No.
